    We start with no synthetic fertilisers. Next we encourage biodiversity of ground/cover crops and insects. This encourages good fungi so no fungicides are required.

    Deep rip the area first, then plant a mix of cover crop, say millet or sorghum; it doesn’t matter so long as you put in as many varieties as possible. Plan where the avocados will go and plant bananas in rows around them. This can also be achieved on a micro scale in the backyard. Once growing, do not make tidy. Chop up mulch and coarse substrate and leaves (not grass clippings) and put around the tree bases. Be sure not to remove lower branches that touch the ground.

    See the question above. Avocado trees are fast-growing trees which live fast and die young. They are not like citrus which you simply can stick in, water and come back every year for the next 50 and expect fruit.
